Citizenship by Investment – Why Turkey?

With a plethora of countries offering investment opportunities through their CBI program, many would wonder, why should I invest in this country?

Turkey formally introduced the Citizenship by Investment program in January 2017 and it was opened to investors in June 2017 to attract HNWIs to invest in their real estates. The program was seen as very likely to appeal to professionals and business people, since it was already an attractive hub for businesses and social life. In September 2018, the minimum requirements for business investment went down from $3 million to $500,000 and for real estate from $1 million to $250,000, thus allowing more investment opportunities in 2019.

Further, no matter where you first start up in Turkey you will have the opportunity to relocate to Istanbul, which is one of the most beautiful and developed cities in the whole of Turkey.

As for financial stability, it is a country easy to do business in, it has a very high GDP per capital it is one of the largest and strongest economy in the world. it has a fair tax system and even though there was the recent depreciation in Turkish Lira, it is seen as the perfect time to invest in the Turkish real estate market and at the same time obtain second passport or citizenship for all family members. It is a great place to own a holiday home for personal and/or business use.

Apart from the luxury received as a Turkish citizen, you can enjoy the benefits of the Turkish passport, with visa-free or visa-on-arrival to 110 countries. Turkey is also in negotiations with the EU to extend visa-free travel to the Schengen area. It is one of the top 100 passports in the world, with a 10-year validity and is endlessly renewable.

In addition to your passport, you receive a Turkish Identity Card. The application process normally takes three to six months and there is no requirement to learn Turkish or to attend an interview. There is no minimum residency required for your citizenship and dual nationality is allowed.
