Since the indefinite suspension of the Regional Center program, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) are not accepting petitions associated with regional centres, namely, I-924 petitions to set up new regional centres or I-526 petitions associated with regional centres. This decision has also halted processing of such pending petitions.
Because new and pending petitions pertaining to the regional centres are paused, the Direct EB-5 investments are being processed faster.
This has created a golden opportunity for direct EB-5 investors. Only a few slots left to take advantage of this limited time deal of Direct EB-5 investment at $500,000.
Since June, EB-5 Direct has been the only option for business investors seeking to follow the EB-5 route towards US citizenship, and has it consequently risen in popularity, but there has been a widespread assumption across the industry that after the embarrassing forced reduction in price (from USD $900,000 to $500,000) legislators would almost inevitably make the call that the only way would be up.
The decision to keep the minimum investment floor at $500k for EB-5 Direct is sure to lead to continued interest in and demand for EB-5, as it will seen as a golden opportunity to gain a US Green Card. However, it also leaves Regional Centers out in the cold and unsure of their position, until their status is reviewed again.
