The Malta Citizenship by Naturalisation for Exceptional Services by Direct Investment (MEIN) program offers foreign individuals and their families the opportunity to obtain Maltese citizenship through a certificate of naturalization. This initiative is designed for those who contribute significantly to Malta’s economic growth and development. Applicants are required to fulfill a residency requirement, typically 36 months, although exceptions allowing for a shorter 12-month period may apply under specific circumstances.
Central to the MEIN program is a rigorous due diligence process that includes comprehensive background checks to ensure the integrity and suitability of each applicant. This scrutiny aims to maintain the program’s high standards and uphold Malta’s reputation as a trusted international jurisdiction. Successful applicants gain access to the benefits of Maltese citizenship, including visa-free travel to numerous countries, a stable political environment, and a favorable tax regime, making Malta an attractive destination for investment and residence.
Maltese citizens enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 180 countries and territories worldwide, including the Schengen Area, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
